As I very occasionally do, I tried This Recipe after seeing it on the idiot box, and it was absolutely delicious !

Recommended, with the addition of a finely diced onion and some seasoning to the lentil mix.

That does sound tasty. I love lentils but the idea of cooking them intimidates me. Don't you have to soak them forever first? Or is that a different sort of lentils?

This recipe uses Puy lentils, which are a rather superior type of lentil from southern France which doesn't need as much cooking as your bog-standard lentil. They're well tasty, too.

No.

No. Dried beans.

Lentils are great and take anywhere from 30 mins to several hours to cook depending on what you want to do.

I'll post my Ham and Pea soup recipe, which actually uses (as is traditional) yellow split lentils.
