TESCO

Good old TESCO.

They seem to be back. If persistence counted for anything then this application should sale through.

I've reached the point that I'm so sick of the generally crap quality of the vegetables in Somerfield that it can't open soon enough for me.

I've got my thing through from planning.

The Council System isn't sophisticated enough to provide a link to the application itself.

But the number is 2009/05931/PA

I think you can for a while but they don't tend to be persistent links.

But it still seems to be working now so all is right with the world.

There's also a paper copy at the front desk of Moseley Exchange.

I agree about the veg, but Tesco are about world domination - groceries yes, but also booze, pharmaceuticals, dry cleaning, contact lenses - you name it, so I'm a bit apprehensive about the impact on other businesses in the area

I think that was my concern originally.

I went along to the ward meeting when the last application went in and was surprised that the plan was tentatively supported by the traders association. I say tentatively as given the mood of the room it wouldn't be wise to be too supportive.

I think it was the bloke from Domestica who said that they believed that the increase in people attracted to the area would outweigh the harm Tesco could do. I have no idea whether his assessment was correct but I think it might be sensible to trust their judgement.

Though obviously Domestica are unlikely to face much competition from Tesco. I think he was talking on behalf of the trade association.

It appears that there is a public meeting to discuss the birth of Tesco at St Columba's Church Hall.

7:00pm on the 24th March.

I expect the baying mob will be congregating at around 6:30 to compare placards.

I know Daz was at the meeting last night so I've heard his thoughts on it, but was anyone else there who fancies reporting back?
