King's Heath Faction

Hmm. Do I dare post items of interest about King's Heath (as it's Moseley General here), or do I have to start a separate BB with a membership
consisting of myself? :-o

I'll chance it: the Station is closed for a refurb by new owners (who also own the Oak Tree* in Stirchley). I happened to catch one of them as I was passing by and asked what was happening. They plan to do the front part up in traditional style, fit out the back garden for summer roasts, continue putting on comedy, and maybe film nights if there's local interest. He was receptive to joining in the the next Big King's Heath Partay, and possibly other stuff. So if you frequent that part of town and can offer encouragement, please do!

* correction: British Oak, see below.

any chance of a decent karaoke like they used to have in the back room? there's a distinct lack of places to make an exhibition of yourself round these parts - I don't count open mike - that's for the pros

I think discussing Kings Heathy things is fine.

I also like the karaoke idea.

Not sure that the above is 100% true as Punch Inns the owner
have it listed as available on a new 10 year Lease Agreement.

To see link to website below type B13 or B14 and in postcode box
and select pub from the map

http://www.punchpubs.co.uk/punch/punch%20pubs

As for "fit out the back garden for summer roasts" if you have seen
the back yard there is just room for the smoking shed.

I may not have the story entirely correct - it's written from memory!
But this is the gist of what they said, and I would be very glad to see the place develop more social functions.

Do you perhaps mean The British Oak in Stirchley (rather than The Oak Tree as you say)? If so, and if the Station is going to be run like that really rather good pub, then it's all good.

They said it was near Cadburys, on the Pershore Road. Hopefully that's the one you're thinking of.

That would be very good news.

They did a really good job of turning the British Oak round.

Well then, I apologise for not having all the details correct first time round - but it also sounds like it would be worthwhile for people to drop by and offer a friendly welcome.

Update
I understand that a new person has take it on recently and the last
persons did have it on a short term "Try before you Buy" lease.

The reason it is still listed on the Punch Inns website is unclear it could
be that all the paperwork is not yet completed or that the new person
has also taken it on a short term lease and Punch Inns wants to keep
all their options open.

The last change of Current Designated Premises Supervisor
on the council website was on the 24/11/2009 See HERE
