  • 8:30pm Edinburgh Festival preview comedy show [Spoken Word] The Cross

Upstairs at The Cross Bar Event contact: 0121 689 4372 The Cheeky Monkey comedy club is Birmingham's longest running pub based comedy club - running since 1997 and hosting some of the earliest performances of the likes of Jimmy Carr, Alan Carr, Jason Manford, Ross Noble, Rhod Gilbert, so on. Every July since 1998, the Cheeky Monkey comedy club has hosted preview comedy shows that will be performed in August at the Edinbrugh Festival. This is an opportunity to see at close quarters some soon-to-be-big comedians, honing and polishing their material for Edinburgh. For our 12th July show we have the complete 1 hour show: Lloyd Langford: The Cold Hard Facts of Life (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lloyd_Langford ) A brand new stand-up show featuring jokes about mice and cling film. Lloyd is a comedian unafraid to tackle the big issues. Expect a heady mix of jokes, facts, stories and trivia. You may have seen Lloyd on Ask Rhod Gilbert (BBC1) or heard him on The Now Show (BBC Radio 4). 'A lugubrious Welshman with a knack of turning out juicy one-liners, Langford is a rising star.' The Guardian. Warming up the audience before the Edinburgh show is Chris Turner - an excellent word play specialist - http://www.comedycv.co.uk/christurner/index.html Compere for the evening is Geoff Whiting - www.geoffwhiting.com Admission price is £5 (£4 concessions).
